Clean trunk checkout build failure due to outdated modello plugin configuration

I performed a clean checkout of [1] as described here [2], in order to build a patched version of cargo with the patch for issue [3].

Running a plain in the checkout root:

'mvn clean install'

ends up in a nasty:

[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Building Cargo Maven 2 Plugin
[INFO] task-segment: [clean, install]
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] [clean:clean]
[INFO] Deleting directory /Users/mindthegab/Dev/workspaces/maven/cargo-trunks/extensions/maven2/plugin/target
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ERROR] BUILD ERROR
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] One or more required plugin parameters are invalid/missing for 'modello:xpp3-writer'

[0] Inside the definition for plugin 'modello-maven-plugin' specify the following:

Checking on the modello HP [4] this seems an outdated configuration of the plugin,
which wrapped with an additional <models> element works fine, as per the patch attached.

Is it a bug, a problem in my local repo or just I'm missing something? Setting it as major as prevents to build cargo at all, change it not applicable.
